This important membership meeting will include a vote on the proposed AIA WV dues adjustment for 2026. Members will also hear key updates from our recent Strategic Planning Session and learn more about plans for the year ahead.

We will also launch our three-part AIAU Disaster Preparedness Series, presented in partnership with the AIA National Disaster Assistance Program (DAC).

First Session: When It Rains, It Pours: Preparing for Flooding Events
Flooding is the most common and costly disaster in the U.S., and architects play a critical role in preparing communities for its increasing frequency.

East Coast Metal Systems Facility, Tridelphia, WV | 9:30 AM - 3:00PM

Join AIA West Virginia for an in-person continuing education and training event hosted by ECMS at their Tridelphia facility. The day includes two AIA presentations, a guided shop tour, and hands-on installation training. This program is ideal for architects looking to expand their understanding of building envelope systems and field best practices.

Credits - 1 HSW + 1 LU (2 additional HSW pending AIA approval)

Explore the evolution of architectural metal systems, including rainscreen design, sustainability integration, and how metal wall and roof assemblies support high performance and occupant wellness. (1 LU/HSW)

11:00 – 12:00 PM  |  Shop Tour ( 1 HSW)
Walk through ECMS's fabrication facility and see how modern systems are built and assembled.

12:00 – 1:00 PM  |  Lunch & Presentation 2 – “Understanding Metal Composite Material, Installation, and Systems”

Gain clarity on the difference between MCM fabricators and manufacturers, explore dry- and wet-seal system applications, and review testing codes and installation essentials. (1 LU)

1:00 – 2:00 PM  |  Live Installation Training ( 1 HSW)
Hands-on demo and discussion of real-world installation conditions and techniques.

What to Expect

Tour begins at 10:00 AM sharp. Step out onto the steel catwalk beneath the bridge and explore the gorge like never before. With panoramic views of the New River, rich stories about the region’s history, and expert guides focused on your safety, this three-hour adventure is both educational and exhilarating.

You’ll leave with a camera roll full of stunning photos and a deeper appreciation of West Virginia’s built and natural environment.

Bridge Walk welcomes all eligible participants who are willing and able to walk 1.5 miles. All participants must be at least 48-inches tall, 8 years or older and have a waist size less than 52-inches.
