Annual Design Awards & Design Awards Celebration Gala
Spring

The annual Design Awards is a keystone program of AIA WV. It was established to encourage excellence in architectural design, to make the public more aware of the potential of the built environment, and to honor the architect, owner, and builder of significant projects. The winners of the AIA West Virginia’s Design Awards are announced at the annual Awards Gala. This year’s Design Awards Celebration is an in-person event that will be held on May 3, 2025, at The Cultural Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

Fairmont Annual Meeting
Fall

Held in September, this meeting is a review of all the events held by AIA West Virginia in that given year. It’s also a time to thank our members/sponsors for their support and acknowledge our volunteers. We enjoy speakers on several topics and a networking lunch with colleagues, students, and sponsors. Chapter business is discussed and voting of new board members takes place.

WVFA/Student Scholarships
Year Round

The West Virginia Foundation for Architecture (WVFA), a 501(c)(3) sister organization, offers additional support for the architectural community. WVFA's mission is to provide scholarships for regional students pursuing a career in architecture. Since 1986, WVFA has awarded over $324,300 to 139 students, thanks to the generous support of our members and sponsors. These scholarships support students who demonstrate exceptional potential and are committed to the field of architecture.

After the structures have been displayed to the public and judged, all canned goods used in the structure are donated to Covenant House, a local food bank.
